MOE–SNEF Work Experience Programme
What is the MOE–SNEF Work Experience Programme?

The MOE–SNEF Work Experience Programme is a collaboration between the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF) to provide a structured educational experience for students from special education (SPED) schools, which enables them to work in an actual work setting.
Students in special education (SPED) schools may have sensory, physical, intellectual or other developmental difficulties. Through work experience, students acquire the essential hard and soft skills such as communication, attendance and punctuality, teamwork, and etc. to be work ready. Employers may tap upon this pool of trained students as potential employees.
Student Testimonial
“I can now bake four flavours of cookies, four types of muffins, tartlets as well as puddings. I’m learning to make tiramisu and other textures. I also learnt how to work together as a team, with different types of people”
Steven Jackson
Commis Cook at Crowne Plaza Changi Airport
Why Should Employers Offer Work Experiences?
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
Organisations could offer work experiences to students from Special Education (SPED) schools as one of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
“Corporate Social Responsibility is a hard-edged business decision. Not because it is a nice thing to do or because people are forcing us to do it — because it is good for our business”
Niall Fitzerald
Former CEO, Unilever
Potential Source of Employees
Organisations could make use of this opportunity to assess the work quality and attitudes of students who could be potential future employees.
Building Staff Capability and Capacity
Offering work experiences creates opportunities for staff to develop and enhance their leadership and mentoring skills.
Quote from Employer
“I am very proud of Azrin. Not only is he hands-on, he is also sociable and blends well with the staff at work”
