Singaporeans Currently Overseas

Singaporeans currently overseas can consider the following schemes for their children:

Primary One Registration

Parents with Returning Singaporean children who are due to enter Primary One are encouraged to register their children while abroad during the Primary One Registration Exercise, which is usually held from July to September.

Overseas Singapore children enjoy the same priority as their counterparts residing in Singapore. To submit your child’s application for Primary One during the annual Primary One Registration Exercise, either appoint a proxy to act on your behalf, or indicate your choices to MOE, which will then act for you. For more information, refer to the section for Overseas Singaporeans.

School places will be allocated to these children upon successful registration. If applicants are unable to join the school in the new school year, parents can reserve the school places by applying for Leave of Absence after registration.

Immersion Programme

Singaporeans returning from overseas can consider enrolling their children in the Immersion Programme. This allows Singaporean pupils to attend classes for a stipulated period to get a feel of school life in Singapore and helps in easing their re-entry to the system. Returning Singaporeans can approach schools directly to apply for immersion or write to MOE via moe_returnhome@moe.gov.sg for assistance.
